The Pro7ect Residential Retreat Experience

Day 1: Arrival at Rockfield

Artists arrive and check in by 5pm.

The first evening gives you time to settle into your accommodation, become familiar with the writing rooms and meet the artists and producers you will be working alongside throughout the retreat.

After an evening meal, we hold an informal welcome, orientation and listening session. You will also be shown around Rockfield Studios and introduced to the facilities that will become your creative home for the week.

The evening concludes in the legendary Quadrangle Studio, part of the musical history of Rockfield and the place where Queen developed and recorded “Bohemian Rhapsody”.

It is a relaxed beginning, but the creative energy starts immediately. By the end of the evening, introductions have been made, conversations have begun and the retreat is ready to come alive.

Days 2, 3 and 4: Write, record and create

Each morning begins with breakfast and the announcement of the day’s writing teams.

Across the retreat, five teams work simultaneously in five different creative spaces, each led by an experienced Pro7ect Headline Producer.

Four teams write and produce within their studio rooms. The fifth team takes over the Live Lounge, forming a temporary band to write and multitrack-record and video a song live. That team also performs its new song at the end of the evening playback.

Your challenge is simple, but demanding:

Write and record one complete song, with your team, in one day.

Each room begins with a blank page. By the evening, it has become a finished collaborative recording ready to be shared with the rest of the retreat.

The song may be written for an artist in the room, for another performer, as a potential release, or simply in response to where the creative process leads. There is no prescribed genre and no single correct way to work. The producers guide the process, help the team make decisions and ensure that ideas keep moving towards a strong final result.

A buffet lunch is provided during the day, followed by an evening meal and our nightly listening session.

The evening playback is one of the most powerful parts of Pro7ect. Everyone gathers together to hear what has been created across the five rooms. Fifteen different artists may have started the morning with no idea what they were going to write. By the end of the night, five new songs exist.

Then the teams change, and the process begins again.

Three writing days. Three new teams. Three original songs.

The pace is intense, but that intensity is part of the opportunity. You learn to trust your instincts, communicate your ideas, make creative decisions and complete work within a professional environment.

Many songs first written at Pro7ect have gone on to be developed and released by participating artists. Others have led to ongoing writing partnerships, new production relationships and collaborations that continue long after the retreat has ended.

Day 5: Departure

After breakfast, artists check out by 11am.

Leaving the Rockfield bubble is rarely easy. In only a few days, you will have shared ideas, meals, late-night conversations, creative risks and extraordinary amounts of music with people who were strangers when you arrived.

You leave with access to the three songs created by your teams, professionally produced collaborative monitor mixes that can be developed further, considered for release or shared privately.

More importantly, you leave with new skills, stronger creative instincts and a network of artists and producers who have experienced your work first-hand.

Pro7ect is built around genuine collaboration. The relationships formed here often continue through future co-writing sessions, production work, releases, performances and lasting friendships across the music industry.

The Masterclass offers another day of practical learning, creative insight and direct access to an established music industry professional. You can add the Masterclass when completing your retreat application.

Who is the residential retreat for?

The Pro7ect residential retreat is for committed artists, songwriters and music creators who already have some songwriting experience and are ready to work collaboratively at a professional level.

You do not need to arrive with all the answers. You do need to be open, prepared to contribute and willing to step beyond your usual creative habits.

Places are curated to create the strongest possible balance of artists, writers, musicians and producers across the retreat.

The Pro7ect Masterclass Experience
Masterclass itinerary: Saturday 10am - 4pm.

Rockfield Studios, COACH HOUSE Studio

A Pro7ect Masterclass is an immersive day of songwriting, collaboration and studio production led by an established music industry professional.

Open to artists of all experience levels, the day is designed to help you develop your creative instincts, strengthen your confidence and understand how a song moves from its first idea to a recorded production.

You do not need previous songwriting, production or studio experience. You simply need curiosity, enthusiasm and a willingness to take part.

Arrival at Rockfield

Artists are asked to arrive at the Coach House Studio shortly before 10am.

Tea and coffee will be available, giving you time to meet the Pro7ect team and your fellow participants, settle into the studio and become familiar with the space before the session begins.

This is not a conventional classroom. The Masterclass takes place inside the legendary Coach House Studio, where the epic Oasis song “Wonder Wall” was recorded (and where the actual Wonder Wall is!)

You will spend the day learning by creating, listening, asking questions and experiencing the songwriting and recording process from inside the room.

Morning Session: Songwriting and Collaboration

The morning session focuses on the creative foundations of songwriting and collaborative work.

Led by the Headline Producer, the group will explore practical songwriting approaches, creative decision-making, communication within a writing room and the techniques used to develop an initial idea into a complete song.

Participants will then break into smaller teams to begin writing collaboratively.

This is your opportunity to contribute lyrics, melodies, chords, rhythms, concepts or instrumental ideas, while learning how different creative personalities work together.

There is no pressure to perform or arrive with finished material. The emphasis is on participation, experimentation and discovering what becomes possible when a group of artists begins with a blank page.

A buffet lunch is served at approximately 1pm.

Afternoon Session: From Song Idea to Studio Recording

During the afternoon, the focus moves from songwriting into production and recording.

The ideas developed during the morning session will be taken into the studio, where the Headline Producer will guide the group through the process of turning them into a recorded track.

You will see how arrangements are developed, sounds are chosen, performances are captured and production decisions are made.

Rather than simply being told how records are created, you will experience the process as it happens.

The afternoon may include recording vocals, instruments, programmed elements or live performances, depending on the song and the skills within the group. You will also gain insight into studio workflow, microphone technique, communication with performers and the creative choices that help a song take shape.

This is where the studio comes alive.

You will be able to ask questions, observe professional techniques and contribute to the recording as the song moves from an idea in the room to a production through the speakers.

Every Masterclass Is Different

No two Pro7ect Masterclasses are the same.

Each day is shaped by the Headline Producer, the participants in the room and the music created during the session. The experience is responsive, collaborative and driven by the ideas, questions and enthusiasm of the group.

That unpredictability is part of what makes the day so valuable. You are not watching a rehearsed demonstration. You are witnessing and participating in a real creative process.

By the end of the day, you will have gained practical songwriting and production knowledge, greater confidence in a professional studio environment and a clearer understanding of how collaborative songs and recordings are made.

The Masterclass finishes at 4pm.
